Siemens QRB3 Series – Photo Resistive Flame Detectors

Siemens Photocell Detector QRB3 Series consists of photo resistive flame detectors designed for monitoring yellow-burning oil flames in the visible light spectrum. The detectors provide a flame detection signal to compatible burner control units for flame supervision during burner operation.

The QRB3 Series is designed for use with Siemens burner controls, including LAL, LME7, LMO, LMV and LOA series. These detectors are primarily intended for oil burners operating in intermittent mode.

Operating Principle

The Siemens QRB3 uses a light-sensitive photo resistor to detect radiation from oil flames. In darkness, the electrical resistance is in the megaohm range. As the light intensity increases, the resistance decreases into the kilohm range. The connected burner control evaluates this change to generate the flame detection signal.
