Siemens Biogases and Recycling Gas Valves VRF10 VRH10
Siemens VRF10 and VRH10 Series are biogas and recycling gas valves designed for industrial gas trains and process applications. Available in DN40–DN125 sizes with permissible operating pressures up to 600 mbar, depending on the model. These normally closed, flanged valves operate with compatible Siemens SKP actuators and are suitable for dry biogas and slightly aggressive recycling gases, subject to gas composition and material compatibility verification.

Siemens Biogases and Recycling Gas Valves VRF10 VRH10
Siemens Biogases and Recycling Gas Valves VRF10 / VRH10 Series
Siemens VRF10 and VRH10 Series are industrial valves designed for use with biogas, recycling gases, and selected process gases. They are intended for installation in industrial gas trains and can provide safety shutoff functions when combined with suitable actuators in accordance with EN 161.
These valves are suitable for gases of Gas Families I–III, air, and dry, slightly aggressive biogases and recycling gases. Their design supports industrial gas distribution, combustion equipment, and gas recovery processes where reliable gas shutoff and control are required.
Key Features
- Class A valves when combined with suitable actuators in accordance with EN 161.
- Two-port, normally closed valve design.
- Flanged connections for industrial gas piping.
- Slow opening and rapid closing when operated with compatible actuators.
- Suitable for selected dry biogases, digester gases, waste gases, and recycling gases.
- VRF10 Series available in DN40–DN80.
- VRH10 Series available in DN80–DN125.
- VRF10 valves feature an integrated stainless steel strainer to protect internal valve components.
Industrial Applications
Siemens VRF10 and VRH10 valves are designed for special industrial process applications, including:
- Biogas supply and distribution systems
- Digester gas applications
- Industrial waste gas recovery systems
- Recycling gas distribution systems
- Compatible industrial burner gas trains
- Process gas supply and shutoff applications
Compatible Siemens Actuators
VRF10 and VRH10 valves can be combined with different actuator types depending on the required control function and gas compatibility.
- SKP1 Series: Provides gas shutoff valve operation.
- SKP2, SKP5 and SKP7 Series: Provide gas control with shutoff functionality. Suitability for the intended recycling gas must be verified in consultation with Siemens.
Gas Compatibility and Safety Considerations
The chemical composition of biogas and recycling gas may vary significantly depending on the industrial process. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), ammonia (NH3), and moisture can influence material compatibility and valve service life.
- Permissible medium temperature: 0 to +60°C.
- Maximum H2S concentration: 1% by volume under dry gas conditions.
- Maximum NH3 concentration: 1% by volume under dry gas conditions.
- Condensation inside the valve is not permitted.
- Installation of two valves in series and a valve proving device is strongly recommended.
- Visual inspection every 6–12 months is recommended.
